Introduction: PRECISION ERW AND CDW TUBES: Precision welded ERW tubes are manufactured by high frequency induction welding process using cold rolled steel strips. CDW tubes are an important component of the ERW tubes. If ERW tubes with close tolerances and superior physical / mechanical properties are required in non-standard sizes specific end users, they are produced by cold drawing. A change occurs in the steel structure during the ERW process of tube making. To remove the Metallurgical differences between the weld zone and the body of tube and effects of cold working are caused in the forming process. The tubes are subjected to heat treatment or normalising to restore the grain structure, thereby stress relieving the tubes. Normalising is also essential for achieving desired levels of mechanical properties such as hardness, yeild strongth and tensile strength. CDW TUBES: ERW tubes if required in non-standard sizes or specific end uses with close tolerances and superior physical / mechanical properties are produced by cold drawing. The main feature of the process is drawing the pre - treated tube through a die over a plug to maintain both the outside and inside dimensions of the tube to very close tolerances. A wide assortment of sizes within the general range is possible by means of cold drawing. |
